Best polymeric sand for pavers - DoItYourself ...

May 09, 2021  Best polymeric sand for pavers. Had a beautiful patio and walkway installed about three years ago. Pavers were Cambridge, polymeric sand was Alliance/Gator. Unfortunately the polymeric sand never set well in the bigger joints, always seemed rubbery, and has now washed away quite a bit from those locations.

I bought 4 40lb tubs of Sakrete Polymeric Sand My patio is 18 feet by 19 feet almost 400 sq.ft 98% of the pavers had about 3/16" to 1/4 " gap sweeping Sand, in around and across i did 1/4th of the area then using a plate compactor I made several passes re swept and again made several passes. then the next row, and so on.

Mar 29, 2019  I’m having my 1.25” thick travertine pavers installed on a dry set base. The PB is planning to use spacers and then fill joints with polymeric sand. The pavers are pretty smooth on the sides, so I would think they would fit tightly together without having to add the spacers and the polymeric sand.

The joints should be 1/4" wide and as deep as the pavers. Which means you have to remove all the old sand. After applying the jointing sand, compacting is advised and then adding more sand. Extensive cleaning of the surface of the pavers is critical to remove all jointing sand before wetting down the sand. drying and curing time is important too.
